Our Wacky Wednesday!

Wednesday April 13th, 2011
Dale was on time this morning! What? Shocking, I know, right? This is definitely a day to document, It must have been from our “being on time” chat yesterday. Whatever it was, It was only the start. Highlights of the rest of the day include- quilting ( I loved how the men stood around awkwardly at first while the women went to town! But I’m proud cause all the men did get in there and learned and helped.), and our workshop at the dance studio which turned out to be more like private lessons. Did you know that the studio owner broke her arm riding her motorcycle? Yeah she was hard core. ( I was informed that after our show tonight she was an emotional wreck. Though not lds she was so touched by our performance, which hopefully makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.)
Then there was dinner... Can I start off by saying how delicious it was! I really enjoyed the home cooked quality of the meal and since i’ve become a fatty on tour I just enjoy meals in general. The table I sat at had quite a dynamic conversation, here are just some of the topics we discussed at the dinner table- we talked about doing a infant/ fetus dance where people don’t have control of their bodily functions, which led to peeing on stage, which led to a dance about peeing including goggles and swim caps, bad smells, leg extensions after peeing, and the trick of drinking pepsi before show so that you could pee and throwing people into the air as they pee. We didn’t only talk about pee though, we also talked about Jesse’s pet kittens named dirty and poopoo, naked people skiing pranks, eyeballs popping out and a variety of other things. I laughed, I cried, and I talked about pee a lot...
Then with well worked abs from all the laughing we loaded the bus to go to our show at... a bowling ally. Was it ideal? no. Were we dancing on top of the audience? pretty much. Did we change in a hallway? indeed we did. Do we now have the most excellent stories to tell because of it? Heck yes we do!
To start off with some lucky person in the audience got to see my hindside as I was changing for sunshine! They didn’t even realize they were in for that kind of a show! Then there was the many croch shots in kenzie’s to the poor people in the front row. There was of course, Megan running into Taylor first, then being punched by Kelsey (who had blood on her hand to prove it) and then her collision with Kelly on the cartwheel. I just remember Megan running off asking if she was bleeding and all I said was “yeah” to the blood seeping into her smile and down her lip. Something tells me Megan was just looking for a fight tonight. There was also a funny moment when Jenny L. said “Oh Gross” to a tuna fish smell but Shay took it as an “oh gross” to her butt and exclaimed she was sorry and was so humiliated! And our random clapping for Bethani and Dave’s host family? yeah....
There were also moments like a four year old girl singing along to “You are my sunshine.” Jesse’s adoring fan who was an eleven year old girl who thought he was the bees knees. All in all it turned out to be a really fun show and now we have the most interesting stories to tell. Do you remember how worried we were? Somehow though, I think it will be one of our more memorable shows.
Today was unexpectedly... amazing. I, as well as many of you I’m sure, was unsure of how today was going to go, but at every stage of the day things took a turn for the better and turned out to be the best yet!

Sharing the Love

Over the weekend in Austin, I stayed with an old friend and her family. This little girl wanted a dance lesson, so I taught her a few things. She picked it up fast.

Tuesday's adventures

Tuesday 12 April 2011
Blogged by Jenny Remington

Tuesday was very exciting because we were finally done with the sprint to Texas. We were staying in Midland and set to perform in Odessa. We were not exactly on time in the morning. Kevin and Chris were brought to the wrong stake center and Brother Hilliard was just… late. The people of the day were Bethany and … someone else whom I have forgotten. After a rousing speech from Dale Hilliard we began our journey by touring the local Petroleum museum. We found that it was difficult to pay attention, but we had a great time taking pictures with the various items throughout the museum. The museum focused on how they drill for oil, the history of drilling for oil in the area, and where that oil is used today (race cars). It was sunny yet windy, but we were glad to be out of the bus. Next, we stopped by Walmart because some people were not given sack lunches by their home-stays. A few girls bought sandals for tour and quite a few of us bought movies for the bus ride. We had planned on next going to George W. Bush’s childhood home museum, but apparently it was full. But according to the home-stays there wasn’t much to see anyway. So we went jewelry shopping instead. The boys decided to skip out on that venture. Some bought earrings and purses and necklaces. After that we drove right on over to Odessa High school to start setting up. We began getting our costumes ready and ran a few shows. Then we decided to lay Marley and set up chairs. We put it directly on the gymnasium floor with “front” towards the main entrance. Our costumes were paces on the stage behind our Marley. We drew the curtains of the stage so we could change behind, enter, and exit from it. The stage had the appearance that it had been abandoned for quite some time. It was covered by a wrestling mat and dotted with work out equipment. But everything was covered in dust and dirt. We also found a lovely ant colony living along the back wall which found there way onto Abbie and Bethany’s costumes. We ran a few more numbers on the Marley and then sat down to some Pizza Hut. Then it was a mad dash to get ready, warm up, (which there was no room for and few of us did for fear of touching the wrestling mat), and then performing. We changed in these tiny, dingy bathrooms. Shay was not feeling well. The gym ended up about halfway full. We were forced to keep lights up on the audience because of the facilities. So they were rather quiet. The performance went well considering this was our first tour performance without wings. There were a few things that happened that were pretty humorous. For instance, Abbie and Janae entered earl in Kenzie’s number. In Wendy’s piece I found myself in plank position facing the group of missionaries, clearly flashing them. The missionaries left during Kali’s piece. During Cabaret, Chris was unable to dress on time and so Alli improved walking on without him and he finally joined her with a half buttoned shirt. Kelsey was bent over the trashcan after her duet performance. What a trooper! If any other fun performance stories happened that I am unaware of, please blog or comment them! It was a very interesting show, one I know we won’t forget! The audience really seemed to enjoy the show. Multiple audience members expressed embarrassment that so few audience members showed up. After striking Marley and costumes, we either went to the home-stays directly or went on the bus to the chapel where our home-stays picked us up. That concludes Tuesday’s adventures.
